Get to Know Dr. Sarah Chen

Welcome -- I am so glad you are here. My name is Dr. Sarah Chen, and I am the founder and clinical director of Serenity Mind Wellness. I started this practice in 2018 because I believe deeply that everyone deserves access to therapy that feels warm, culturally responsive, and truly individualized.

As a first-generation Chinese American, I grew up navigating two cultures and understanding how our backgrounds shape our emotional worlds. This experience drives my commitment to creating a space where you can show up fully as yourself -- no masks, no judgment. I specialize in helping individuals work through anxiety, trauma, and the unique pressures that come with navigating identity and cultural expectations.

I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain process difficult experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming. Whether you are dealing with a specific traumatic event or a lifetime of accumulated stress, I will meet you where you are with compassion and clinical expertise.

Outside of the therapy room, you will find me hiking Forest Park with my rescue dog, experimenting with dumpling recipes, or curled up with a good novel. I believe that therapists who take care of their own well-being are better equipped to hold space for yours.
