Office Policies
Clear policies help us create a safe, respectful, and predictable therapeutic environment. Please review the following information so you know what to expect from us and what we ask of you.
Cancellation Policy
We require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. When you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or miss your appointment without contacting us, the full session fee will be charged to the card on file.
We understand that unexpected situations arise. If you experience a genuine emergency, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you. Our goal is not to penalize but to respect the time that has been reserved specifically for you.
Late Arrival
If you arrive late to your session, we will still meet for the remaining time, but the session will end at the originally scheduled time. The full session fee applies regardless of the time remaining. This policy ensures that all clients receive their full, dedicated session time.
If you are running more than 15 minutes late, please call the office so we can determine whether it makes sense to continue with the abbreviated session or reschedule.
Communication Policy
Between sessions, you may contact us through the secure patient portal messaging system for brief, non-urgent communications such as scheduling questions or quick updates. We typically respond within one business day.
Please note that email and text messaging are not considered secure forms of communication. While we may use email or text for appointment reminders and scheduling, we ask that you avoid sharing sensitive clinical information through these channels.
Detailed therapeutic discussions are best reserved for your sessions, where your therapist can give you their full, undivided attention.
Emergency & After-Hours
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
Our office is not an emergency or crisis service. We do not provide 24-hour on-call coverage. If you are in crisis outside of office hours, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988, or text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
You can also visit our Crisis Resources page for a full list of emergency contacts and support services.
Social Media Policy
To protect your confidentiality and maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries, we do not accept friend or connection requests from current or former clients on social media platforms. If we discover that we have an existing connection, we will discuss it in session and may ask to disconnect.
We do maintain professional social media pages for educational content and practice updates. You are welcome to follow those pages, but please be aware that doing so may reveal your connection to our practice to others who can see your activity.
Records Request
You have the right to request a copy of your clinical records at any time. Please submit your request in writing to our office. We will process your request within 30 days in accordance with applicable state and federal law.
A reasonable administrative fee may apply for copying and preparation of records. If you would like records sent to another provider, a signed authorization form is required before any information is released.
Confidentiality
Everything you share in therapy is confidential. Your therapist will not disclose any information about you without your written consent, except in the limited circumstances required by law. These exceptions include situations involving imminent danger to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or a valid court order.
Your therapist will discuss the limits of confidentiality with you during your first session so you can make informed decisions about what you choose to share.
For a complete description of our privacy practices, please review our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.
